Think is seeking an
Interim Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Director
to support a chemical manufacturing site. This role is critical in addressing continued compliance, coordination, and performance across EHS functions. This position will require someone to be on-site in Tennessee on a weekly basis.
Position Overview The Interim EHS Director will provide on-site leadership and coordination for all environmental, health, and safety activities at a mid-sized manufacturing facility. This individual will play a key role in stabilizing EHS operations, interfacing with regulatory bodies, and strengthening existing safety management systems while supporting both local and global stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and oversee all EHS programs and initiatives at the site level
Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and external stakeholders
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal EHS regulations
Coordinate EHS activities across functions and support broader multi-site alignment
Assess and enhance the safety management system, identifying opportunities for improvement
Drive a strong safety culture, reinforcing best practices and accountability
Partner with site leadership and global EHS teams to ensure alignment and reporting
Qualifications
Proven experience in EHS leadership within the chemical or process manufacturing industry
Background in continuous manufacturing environments preferred
Demonstrated ability to lead site-level EHS programs and manage regulatory interactions
Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to operate in a matrixed organization
Hands‑on, on‑site leadership approach with a focus on execution and accountability
Additional Context This role is designed to stabilize and lead EHS efforts during a transitional period, ensuring continued operational compliance while the organization evaluates long‑term leadership solutions.
