
Outreach Director - Student Hourly

Overview
Position Overview Student Senate is the primary advocate for students on campus. Our 90 senators, 15 legislative officers, 10 executive staff members, 5 election commission members, and advisors work together to allocate about $24 million in student fees in ways that best serve students. We also represent the KU student voice within University, State, and National Governance, working to address and develop policy in students' best interests. Responsibilities
50% - Develop programs to expand the role of the Student Senate throughout the University, including reaching out to and meeting with undergraduate and graduate student organizations, colleges, offices, services, and programs that exist on KU’s campus. 15% - Tabling at least four times per semester at the Kansas Union, Wescoe Beach, or other relevant locations. 15% - Upon the determination of the elections schedule, the Outreach Director will create and circulate a flier and host a public forum with the following information: a. How a student can file for candidacy. b. The deadline to file for candidacy. c. The timeline for the elections. 10% - Coordinate one event a year with the Center for Community Outreach and Student Union Activities, respectively, to promote partnership between Union organizations. 5% - Creating flyers, posters, social media posts, and other promotional materials in coordination with the Public Relations Director to increase awareness of the Student Senate. 5% - Be responsible for other tasks as may be assigned by the Student Body President, the Student Executive Council, or the Student Senate. Available on Wednesday nights from 5pm-10pm for Student Senate meetings. Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience with Student Senate. Previous experience in policy implementation as shown in application materials. Position Requirements
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments). Employment Conditions

not
eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR. This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently. Additional Candidate Instructions
