Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented
Construction Estimator
responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and competitive bids for construction projects. This role involves performing quantity take-offs, analyzing plans and specifications, and coordinating with subcontractors and vendors to develop comprehensive project budgets. The Estimator will also assess existing project sites and propose effective solutions to meet client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Develop detailed project budgets and cost plans for construction projects
Prepare comprehensive bids covering all divisions of work
Perform quantity take-offs and analyze blueprints, specifications, and related documents
Estimate costs for labor, materials, and equipment
Define and manage scopes of work for subcontractors
Communicate with subcontractors and vendors to solicit and evaluate bids
Analyze subcontractor proposals against project requirements and scope
Maintain and utilize historical cost data for conceptual estimating
Ensure accuracy and completeness of all submitted cost estimates
Develop general conditions and project scope documentation
Revise and update estimates based on addenda or project changes
Review project estimates and conditions with senior management
Conduct site visits to gather information for renovation or existing structure projects
Qualifications & Requirements
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and project management principles
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and building codes
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with project management tools (e.g., scheduling software, CPM systems)
Strong analytical and data interpretation skills
Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking capabilities
Knowledge of quality standards and health & safety regulations
Experience with scheduling and cost tracking is preferred
PMP or equivalent certification is a plus
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Science, or related field preferred
