Technical Sales Engineer

CED is seeking a Technical Sales Engineer / Switchgear Specialist to support its growing power distribution business in the Charlotte market. This is a high-impact role for someone who already has experience in the switchgear / electrical distribution equipment space and can step in to help support contractors, build quotes, and manage the technical side of projects. This hire will play an important role in helping bridge current business needs while the team continues to develop internal talent over time. The position is based in Charlotte, NC, and relocation may be considered for the right person.
About the Role
Partner with contractors to quote gear on active projects
Review fully designed and published plan sets
Perform takeoffs from drawings and plans
Build equipment packages and prepare quotes
Support projects involving switchgear and related power distribution equipment
Work through the technical side of projects from quote through execution
Serve as a trusted technical resource to customers and internal teams
Help support the broader power distribution effort while internal talent continues to be developed
Product Scope This role touches a broad set of power distribution products, including:
Switchgear
Switchboards / panelboards
Transformers
Disconnects
What We’re Looking For
Experience in the switchgear / power distribution equipment space
Background working for a gear manufacturer, distributor, or similar technical electrical environment
Experience with quoting, takeoffs, and building equipment packages
Ability to partner directly with contractors and support project needs
Strong technical understanding of electrical distribution products
Comfortable operating in a customer-facing, technical sales environment
Ideal Backgrounds Strong candidates may come from backgrounds such as:
Sales Engineer
