Key Responsibilities Writing (60%)
Actively and independently seeks out stories and creates blogs, patient stories, video blogs, press releases, and other content about research, patient care, clinical trials, faculty accolades, student recognition, and philanthropy to promote departments, divisions, and centers within the School of Medicine.
Translates complex medical, scientific, and research accomplishments into clear, accurate, and compelling public relations and public‑facing communications for non‑technical audiences.
Monitors local, regional, and national health care news and ensures that the website includes appropriate information about current events by interviewing key faculty and staff members and creating associated news releases or web content.
Tracks and records reports featuring members of the School of Medicine in the media and online for promotional purposes.
Conducts keyword research and search engine optimization to increase content performance and web traffic.
Publishes content on Sitefinity, HubSpot, and EurekAlert.
Prepares key takeaways from blog content to promote on social media posts and in newsletters.
Publications (30%)
Editor and collaborator on publications, such as magazines and annual reports.
Collaboration and Best Practices (10%)
Builds and maintains relationships with faculty and staff within the School of Medicine.
Collaborates with School of Medicine, Anschutz campus teams, UCHealth, Children's Hospital Colorado, Veterans Affairs, and others as appropriate.
Identifies and implements best practices with regard to communication practices, strategies, and tools.
Work Location Hybrid (three days per week on campus and remote as needed for in‑person meetings).

Qualifications Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business, marketing, communications, public or media relations, journalism, or a related field.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience working in communications and writing, preferably in health care or higher education.
Preferred Requirements
Experience with writing about science‑specific topics, research, and/or the health care sector.
Four or more (4+) years of experience working in communications and writing.
Experience in photojournalism.
Experience working in a web content management system (Sitefinity, HubSpot).
Experience with project management, prioritization, timelines, and ensuring on‑time deliverables.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Exceptional independent writing skills and experience to develop clear, concise, and key message‑focused communications.
Excellent knowledge of editing and grammar, including AP style.
Demonstrated ability to consistently capture the voice of a brand/person.
Highly organized and dependable; able to multitask, working quickly and effectively to manage numerous deadlines with minimal supervision.
Self‑starter who can work independently and in a team environment.
Demonstrated creativity and problem‑solving skills.
Dedicated to producing excellent work and outstanding customer service.
Ability to write for both consumer and clinical audiences.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office.
Knowledge of HIPAA policies and procedures.
