Job Summary
Under general supervision, maintains tax records and prepares and reviews federal and state income tax returns, estimated tax computations, tax accruals, federal and state tax true-up computations, and related schedules and reports for large consolidated multinational group of entities. Responds to state and IRS notices, information document requests, and completes special projects as requested.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns and quarterly tax estimates, utilizing federal tax compliance guidelines for insurance and international tax areas. Prepare and review quarterly and annual Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and statutory tax accruals and return-to-accrual true-up computations. Respond to notices and audit inquiries from the IRS and state income tax authorities Maintain tax depreciation records. Prepare and record income tax related journal entries. Research and document issues related to various technical tax and GAAP topics. Assist in training new employees. Assist in the development and maintenance of tax department spreadsheets and software.
Requirements
Minimum 4 Year/Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field CPA preferred 5 Years relevant and progressive Tax experience with a concentration in the areas of corporate consolidated tax returns and state income tax issues Public accounting tax experience in large firm preferred Solid experience and understanding of GAAP tax accounting concepts Experience with insurance and/or international taxation preferred Experience using specialized income tax software Possess and have ability to apply broad knowledge of tax and GAAP principles, practices, and procedures Excellent written and verbal communications skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy Exceptional organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously Knowledgeable of industry changes, legal updates, and technical developments related to applicable area of the Company’s business to proactively respond to changing business environment Intermediate proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)
