
Customs Brokerage Manager

My client, a very well established freight forwarder and customs broker, are seeking a Customs Brokerage Manager to lead and manage all aspects of customs clearance operations in their Atlanta office. This role requires in-depth knowledge of U.S. customs regulations and the ability to lead a team in a fast-paced, digital-first logistics environment. The successful candidate will ensure full compliance with CBP regulations, manage broker filings, and drive automation and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage daily customs brokerage operations, including HTS classification, entry filing, and release processes.
Ensure compliance with all U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations, as well as other government agency (OGA) requirements (e.g., FDA, USDA, EPA, CPSC).
Supervise and mentor a team of entry writers, and support staff.
Liaise with clients, carriers, CBP, and other regulatory bodies to resolve clearance issues and respond to inquiries or holds.
Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve efficiency and ensure compliance.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and generate reports to track performance, compliance, and team productivity.
Partner with technology and automation teams to integrate customs brokerage tools and systems to streamline operations.
Provide classification, valuation, and country-of-origin determinations for imported goods.
Required Qualifications:
U.S. Customs Broker License
5+ years of experience in customs brokerage, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role
Familiarity with international trade documents (commercial invoices, packing lists, airway bills, etc.)
Strong knowledge of HTS classification, valuation, PGA requirements, and trade regulations
Experience with ABI systems and brokerage software platforms
Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
