Standby Generator Field Service Specialist
RACK, West Palm Beach, FL, United States
Power up your career with Rack Electric
Picture your day starting at 7:00 a.m. You review your CRM schedule (we’re a fully paperless operation), hop into a company vehicle, and head to a mix of residential and commercial sites. From twice-yearly maintenance to on-the-spot troubleshooting, you keep standby generators and their related systems ready for anything. By mid-day, you might install or service monitoring equipment; by afternoon, you’re dialing in performance, documenting every step in our software, and leaving customers with confidence in their backup power.
When severe weather arrives, you’re part of the team that answers the call. You’ll rotate one week at a time for emergency on-call coverage and step up after hours and on weekends during storms and hurricane season. If you bring a strong mechanical foundation, a knack for electrical systems, and familiarity with ATS, load shedding, or surge protection, you’ll thrive here.
What you’ll do
Perform residential and commercial preventive maintenance on a bi-annual cadence.
Install and service generator monitoring equipment and related accessories.
Diagnose and resolve operational issues on generators and associated systems.
Complete routine service tasks and document everything in our CRM (paperless workflow).
Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency responses (one week at a time).
What you bring
Professional presence: clean-cut, neat, well-spoken, polite, and detail-focused.
Hands‑on mechanical aptitude; electrical experience is a strong plus.
Self-driven, organized, and methodical in following company procedures.
Comfort using basic electrical and plumbing tools, plus testing equipment.
Exposure to generators is a huge plus (we provide training on features and benefits).
Physical ability to occasionally lift up to 70 lbs and to bend, stoop, squat, and kneel for extended periods.
Willingness to work in heat, wind, and rain as needed.
Openness to cross‑training across all company divisions.
