
Director Patient Care, Labor & Delivery

Job Overview
Ensures that quality age‑appropriate nursing care is delivered to all patients in the nursing unit in accordance with the hospital’s philosophy, policies, procedures, and program plans. Assists with the development of patient care standards, orientation and continuing education. Evaluates staff performance, participates in nursing quality assurance, performs scheduling, and maintains supplies and equipment.
Uses principles of growth and development to assess each patient’s age‑specific needs and provide age‑specific treatment and care.
Unit Description Our private birthing rooms are equipped with birthing beds and designed to blend home‑like comfort with up‑to‑date technology. The Labor & Delivery Suite has 18 private birthing rooms, 4 traditional delivery rooms, and a large recovery room.
Pay Information Pay Transparency: The above reflects the anticipated annual salary range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey. The compensation offered will depend on educational background, skills, and professional experience.

Qualifications Required:
Graduated from an accredited school of nursing
At least 2 years acute care Labor & Delivery nursing experience
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Organizational ability and leadership skills
Demonstrated clinical expertise in area standards
Successful completion of all Orientation Programs
Preferred:
Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing
Certifications and Licenses Required
Current Registered Nurse License in the state of New Jersey
CPR certification
BCLS certification
ACLS certification
NRP certification
Additional certifications may be required per the Administrative Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification Policy

Full‑Time
Day Shift
37.5 hours weekly
5 days per week
Schedule will vary depending on department needs
Essential Functions The Director of Patient Care assists the AVP in defining, planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating the philosophy and objectives for their designated areas to ensure optimal delivery of care and services to all patients. The primary goal is competent, efficient, and cost‑effective care while ensuring compliance with all applicable policies, laws, and regulations.
