Job Description
Purpose: The Director of Operations – Construction is responsible for managing the day-to-day field and project operations across assigned regions. This leadership role ensures construction projects are completed on time, within scope and budget, and in accordance with quality and safety standards. The Director supports strategic execution by overseeing project teams, subcontractors, and regional operations while driving consistency, efficiency, and accountability throughout the construction division.
Key Responsibilities
Direct and oversee construction activities across assigned projects and regions
Manage project managers, superintendents, field teams, and subcontractors
Monitor daily project progress, resource allocation, cost control, and schedule adherence
Enforce site safety, environmental compliance, and quality assurance protocols
Collaborate with executive leadership to align operational objectives with company goals
Support bid preparation, labor forecasting, and subcontractor onboarding
Conduct site visits, job audits, and performance reviews for staff and contractors
Resolve operational challenges and elevate critical project risks as needed
Maintain consistent communication with clients and internal stakeholders
Drive continuous improvement and the adoption of standardized processes and tools
Key Measures / Key Performance Indicators
On-time project delivery rate across managed territories
Field productivity and resource utilization metrics
Safety compliance and incident reduction
Budget variance and cost control effectiveness
Team development, training, and retention outcomes
Requirements Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in construction operations, with 3+ in a leadership role.
Proven ability to manage multi-site construction activities and diverse project scopes
Strong knowledge of field construction processes, scheduling, and cost control
Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Exposure
Internal: Collaborates with field leadership, project teams, scheduling, and finance
External: Interfaces with subcontractors, clients, municipalities, and regulatory bodies
Routine travel to project sites and regional offices required

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally for site inspections or travel gear
Visual and auditory acuity for reviewing plans, reports, and conducting meetings
Must maintain valid driver’s license and ability to travel frequently
