About the Role
Senior Director, Medical Science Liaison (MSL), Southeast will lead a high‑performing team of MSLs to drive field medical business performance and advance ViiV HealthCare's strategic medical objectives. This leader will manage a region of MSLs, coordinate cross‑functional strategies, and implement departmental strategic plans to maintain high‑impact teams that improve patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Management : Lead, coach, and mentor a team of field medical personnel to ensure high levels of scientific engagement, performance, and professional growth.
People Leadership and Development : Recruit, develop, and retain key talent, building a diverse and inclusive workforce.
Strategic Planning & Execution : Accountable for the direction and execution of strategic medical objectives and territory plans.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration : Collaborate with R&D, headquarters medical, and commercial teams to enhance team effectiveness.
Scientific Expertise : Maintain clinical knowledge of the HIV therapeutic area and market trends.
Scientific Engagement : Ensure the team engages external experts, healthcare professionals, and industry experts to gather insights.
Business Performance : Analyze data to provide actionable insights for business development and product strategies.
Training and Development : Provide the latest scientific information and core industry compliance standards; cultivate competence in field teams.
Compliance and Quality : Ensure all activities comply with regulatory guidelines and company policies.
Clinical Trial Support : Lead MSL support of ViiV US‑sponsored research, selecting investigators and increasing trial enrollment.
Basic Qualifications
Advanced degree in medical or health sciences (MD, DO, PharmD, NP, PA).
10+ years of pharmaceutical experience in medical affairs, including 5+ years in field medical roles.
Matrix leadership experience.
People management experience.
Experience managing key stakeholders.
Experience with regulatory requirements.
Ability to travel up to 70% of the time.
Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
HIV expertise.
Experience with strategic business planning and execution.
Strategic thinking, effective communication, negotiation, influencing skills, stakeholder engagement, and leadership in building high‑performing teams.
