Position Summary Odyssey has an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Cybersecurity Specialist supporting the Rapid Sustainment Office in Beavercreek, Ohio.

Responsibilities

Responsible for performing RMF activities leading to system RMF acceptance IAW DoDI 8510.01, NIST 800-series special publications, USAF policy and instructions, and guidance as applicable on RSO IT systems in networked, stand‑alone, and cloud configurations.

Utilize C&A experience, including RMF, of Air Force and DoD information systems.

Implement and enforce IT security policies and procedures, and review IT security requirements to determine impact to existing procedures.

Execute RMF system requirements, identifying vulnerabilities and risks of IT systems, and develop necessary get‑well plans for deficiencies that cannot be immediately corrected, recommending solutions with little or no supervision.

Accomplish system categorization, security control selection, implementation, assessment, and monitoring, including all RMF steps outlined in DoDI 8510.01 on a system‑by‑system basis.

Develop, review, and update documentation required for achieving RMF accreditation of each system.

Apply currently accepted methods for documenting the RMF status of each system within the DoD environment.

Coordinate RMF tasks with the RSO cybersecurity lead.

Comply with DoD and AF RMF policies, including but not limited to:

DoDI 8500.01 – Cybersecurity, DoDI 8510.01;

Risk Management Framework for DoD Information Technology, DoD 8570.01M;

Information Assurance Training, Certification, and Workforce Management, CNSSI 1253;

Security Categorization and Control Selection for National Security Systems, NIST 800‑series Special Publications (SP), Computer Security, including SP 800‑53;

Security Controls and Assessment Procedures for Federal Information Systems and Organizations and Air Force Instruction Series 17 Cyberspace.

Qualifications Minimum Required Qualifications

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen.

Clearance: Active Secret clearance.

Education:

Master’s or Doctorate Degree in a related field and ten years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline, five of which must be in the DoD.

OR, Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and twelve years of experience, five of which must be in the DoD.

OR, fifteen years of directly related experience with proper certifications as described in the PWS labor category performance requirements, eight of which must be in the DoD.

Technical Skills

Network Security – Configuring and monitoring firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and VPNs to protect network infrastructure.

Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) – Using tools like Splunk, QRadar, or Microsoft Sentinel to analyze logs and detect threats.

Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing – Identifying and mitigating security weaknesses using tools like Nessus, Nmap, or Metasploit.

Interpersonal Skills

Communication – Explaining complex security concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Collaboration – Working closely with IT teams, developers, and leadership to implement security measures and respond to threats.

Analytical Thinking – Assessing risks and interpreting data to make informed security decisions.

Additional Information Location: Beavercreek, OH. Travel: May be required at the customer's discretion. Remote, Onsite, or Hybrid: Onsite.

Note: Final compensation for this position will be determined by various factors such as the Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant work experience, specific skills, competencies, geographic location, education, and certifications.
