Job Details A Sales Application Engineer (SAE) is a critical part of the sales process, responsible for designing, developing and integrating HVAC solutions to meet customer specifications. A Senior SAE will meet all of the requirements for an SAE while also providing additional value to customers and the team.

The role blends tactical requirements such as entering orders, acknowledging ship dates, and supporting customer inquiries with strategic responsibilities in solution design, technical support, proposal preparation, and representative relationship building. It requires expertise in HVAC topics such as thermodynamics and airflow, design principles, and HVAC industry standards, as well as proficiency with HVAC-related software tools for unit and component selection, drawing, and pricing.

Success in this role demands a hands‑on, detail‑oriented approach, a desire to help HVAC reps and customers, and the ability to lead by mentoring, tackling difficult projects, and providing strategic direction on products and software.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide technical guidance to reps regarding proper application of products.

Assist engineers, contractors, and reps with application assistance and product sizing.

Guide reps in selecting proper options and accessories to meet application requirements.

Provide reps with quotes – ballpark and/or detailed – for products they are selecting.

Manage selection of special options, features, and/or product construction to assure trouble‑free operation and profitable sales to reps and customers.

Support development and maintenance of product selection, pricing, and drawing software.

Work with Engineering to create and revise customer submittals.

Enter orders as needed; act as liaison between factory and reps, ensuring accurate order status, credit paperwork, pricing, and submittal package.

Act as liaison between reps and management, providing information on market conditions, field problems, rep attitudes, competitive information, and quotation closure rate.

SENIOR SAE DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

Mentor, train, and indirectly supervise or manage direct reports.

Develop solutions for unique and complex applications.

Resolve field issues requiring diagnostics or deep expertise, with possible travel.

Provide input into design, flow, and computations of selection software tools.

Participate in HVAC industry committees, shows, and events.

Provide input into product features, options, roadmaps, and marketing by incorporating customer feedback and evaluating competitor offerings.

Build reputation as an industry and product expert through successful customer engagements and relationships.

Conform to all Quality and Environmental Management System policies, objectives, and obligations.

Perform any other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or a related field.

5+ years of experience as an HVAC Sales Application Engineer.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

High technical proficiency.

Strong problem‑solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects in a demanding work environment.

Ability to travel 2–3 times per year.

Occasional overtime and weekend hours in support of customer requirements.
