Position Summary The HR Director / Senior HR Manager serves as the senior Human Resources leader supporting operations in SE Wisconsin, with the majority of time based in Burlington. This role is responsible for leading HR strategy, managing core HR processes, and supporting approximately 500 employees across multiple locations.
The position oversees a team of 6–8 HR professionals and provides leadership across key HR functions including recruiting, payroll, benefits administration, employee relations, and HR systems. The role requires a highly analytical and process-driven HR leader who can strengthen existing HR programs while developing and mentoring team members.
This role also provides an opportunity for long-term growth, with future potential to expand responsibilities as part of the company’s succession planning within the HR leadership structure.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the senior HR leader supporting operations in Burlington and Whitewater.
Provide strategic HR guidance to leadership while ensuring alignment with business goals.
Lead and develop a team of 6–8 HR professionals, including a well-established recruiting function.
Build and maintain scalable HR processes and systems to support organizational growth.
Employee Relations & Labor Relations
Support employee relations initiatives across multiple sites.
Partner with leadership on workforce planning, engagement, and performance management.
Oversee labor relations for the Burlington location, where approximately 50% of employees are union-represented.
Ensure compliance with union agreements and assist with labor-related matters.
Talent Acquisition & Development
Oversee recruiting strategy and processes, supporting an experienced recruiting team.
Develop internal talent and succession planning initiatives.
Mentor and develop HR team members to build leadership capabilities.
Benefits & Compensation
Lead benefits strategy and vendor negotiations.
Manage open enrollment and benefit programs using Paylocity.
Partner with leadership to maintain competitive and cost-effective compensation and benefits programs.
Payroll & HR Operations
Oversee payroll operations and ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
Maintain and optimize HR systems and processes, including Paylocity.
Use data and analytics to drive HR decisions and continuous improvement.
Global Exposure
Provide occasional HR support or collaboration related to the company’s Mexico operations as needed.
Qualifications Required
10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience.
Experience in a senior HR leadership role such as Senior HR Manager or HR Director.
Strong analytical and process improvement skills.
Experience managing HR teams and developing staff.
Experience with payroll oversight.
Experience negotiating and managing employee benefits programs.
Experience supporting union environments.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
Preferred
Manufacturing or multi-site operational experience.
Experience with Paylocity or similar HRIS systems.
Exposure to international HR operations.
