Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Hospital Laboratory Director to oversee laboratory operations and ensure high-quality, efficient, and compliant clinical services. This leadership role is responsible for driving innovation, maintaining regulatory standards, and managing staff and financial performance within a complex laboratory environment. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership experience and a background in hospital-based laboratory operations.
Responsibilities
Direct laboratory operations, programs, and activities to meet organizational and regulatory requirements
Ensure appropriate staffing through effective hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management
Provide leadership, coaching, and ongoing feedback to develop staff
Set and execute departmental strategies to meet goals related to quality, service, compliance, and patient satisfaction
Gather and incorporate feedback to improve laboratory performance and care delivery
Oversee financial operations, including resource utilization, variance analysis, and reporting
Ensure compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies such as CAP, JCAHO, CLIA, FDA, and CMS
Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures with annual reviews
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in medical technology, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Chemistry required
National Certification as a Medical Technologist required
State licensure required where applicable
Minimum 5+ years of progressive laboratory management experience in complex environments
Leadership experience required
Qualifications
Master's degree preferred
Prior hospital clinical laboratory experience preferred
