
Senior Apparel Designer – Boys Mass

The Senior Apparel Designer for Boys will lead the design and development of trend-right, commercially viable product across key Mass focused boys categories (ages 4–16). This role requires a strong balance of trend interpretation, value engineering and high-volume retail execution, with a focus on delivering compelling product that meets Mass retail price architecture, quality standards, and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities: Design & Product Development:
Lead seasonal design direction across boys apparel categories (knits, fleece, denim, wovens, sets, and basics)
Develop trend-right, brand-appropriate product tailored to the Mass retail customer
Create CADs, tech packs, and detailed design specs for production
Drive silhouette development (fit, proportion, scale) aligned with market needs (e.g., relaxed fits, athletic influence, comfort-driven styling)
Ensure all designs are executable within target cost and margin requirement
Trend & Market Insights:
Research and interpret macro and micro trends relevant to boys (4–16)
Translate trend into commercial, wearable product for mass retail
Shop competitive landscape (Walmart, Target, Amazon, value retailers) and identify white space opportunities
Balance trend with core replenishment program
Design with cost top of mind (fabric selection, construction, trims, print techniques)
Partner with sourcing and product development to hit aggressive IMU targets
Optimize fabric usage, minimize waste, and simplify construction where needed
Understand Walmart’s pricing ladders and build product accordingly
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with sales, sourcing, and production teams to align on seasonal strategy
Participate in fittings and drive fit consistency across programs
Communicate clearly with overseas factories and vendors
Support sales presentations and line reviews with buyer
