Job Summary Direct and supervise the planning, layout, installation, testing, repair, or maintenance of high voltage substation wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, motors, forms, rebar, embeds, and anchor bolts, equipment and control systems in generating stations, substations, and in-service relays in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes and industry standards. Plan and coordinate the efforts of the craft workers under your supervision and motivate them to accomplish the work safely, correctly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support all safety related processes and programs as requested. Engage with the work team to achieve zero injuries. Ensure safety of crew and yourself is never compromised. Maintain familiarity with scheduling, material control, and unit man‑hour performance reporting. Use the Field Progress Management System (FPMS) to create and execute a one‑week schedule, set crew goals based on project unit rates, review time‑cards for correct hours and phase coding, report all accidents and near misses, and participate in investigation processes.
Assure crew members understand, participate, and sign all pre‑job safety planning tools at shift start and end. Identify and eliminate safety hazards. Support lockout/tag‑out procedures and attend site‑specific training. Use effective verbal and written communication skills. Perform basic arithmetic accurately. Listen to employee concerns and devise action plans. Coordinate with supervisor, HR, and other crafts; provide on‑the‑job training and safety instruction. Plan work to ensure adequate tools, materials, and equipment are available. Gain a thorough understanding of project plans, specifications, and schedule. Conduct toolbox meetings and inspect subordinate work for compliance with contract plans and industry standards. Ensure proper construction procedures, equipment operation and maintenance, daily equipment inspections, and performance reviews according to Craft Performance Assessment (CPA) Guidelines.
Maintain high standards of leadership, safety, quality, and productivity for the crew.

OSHA approved certification for crane operations (e.g., NCCCO or CIC)
Minimum Qualifications Must have working experience as a Substation Journeyman or equivalent combination of education and experience in an industrial construction setting. Strong knowledge of project specifications and high‑voltage electrical and civil industry standards. Proficient with substation components, auto‑level, transit, rebar tying, concrete finishing, and substation testing, maintenance, and repair. Must set standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality, and productivity. Must be at least 18 years of age and able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements including background check, drug screen, and motor‑vehicle record search.

Physical Demands
Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas; see and hear naturally or with correction.

Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure.
Requires repetitive movement.
Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
Work up to a 12‑hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.
Work Environment
Typical construction site environment.
Requires working in cramped work spaces and getting into awkward positions.
Requires working in very hot (above 90°F) or very cold (below 32°F) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc.
Requires working in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions.
Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
Work around hazardous equipment.
