About the Role The Director of Construction will serve as a key leader within the organization, responsible for overseeing construction operations across commercial and utility-scale solar and energy infrastructure projects. This role requires a strong operational leader who can manage Project Managers and Superintendents, reinforce a safety-first culture, and strengthen field execution standards while maintaining alignment with executive leadership. The Director of Construction will play a pivotal role in driving accountability, improving construction processes, and mentoring emerging leaders within the organization. This is a hands-on leadership role with meaningful visibility and influence.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and oversee construction operations across multiple commercial solar and energy infrastructure projects
Directly manage and mentor Superintendents and Project Managers
Provide strong field presence and leadership across active job sites
Reinforce and elevate safety standards and OSHA compliance
Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to quality expectations
Strengthen communication and accountability between field and executive teams
Oversee subcontractor and EPC performance
Improve construction workflows, reporting systems, and operational processes
Support forecasting, resource allocation, and cost control initiatives
Participate in strategic planning discussions with executive leadership
Develop and mentor the next generation of construction leaders within the company
Required Qualifications & Experience
10+ years of construction leadership experience
Commercial or utility-scale solar experience required
Experience managing Superintendents and Project Managers
Strong knowledge of construction safety practices and compliance
Demonstrated experience leading multi-project operations
Ability to operate effectively in both field and leadership environments
Strong organizational and communication skills
Experience in industrial, agricultural, or energy infrastructure environments is highly desirable
Mechanical construction background is an asset
C10 Electrical Contractor License or General B License preferred but not required. Willingness to obtain license is viewed positively.
