Associate Director, Cell Biology - San Francisco Bay Area
A growing, innovation-driven biotechnology organization is seeking an experienced scientific leader to join their Research. This is a high-impact leadership role focused on advancing therapeutics for
severe rare genetic metabolic diseases with significant unmet need . As Associate Director, you will serve as a scientific and strategic leader overseeing a multidisciplinary research team developing
cellular disease models within enzymes and metabolic disorders . You’ll guide study design, mentor scientists, and help drive programs from early discovery toward translational milestones. Key Responsibilities
Act as subject matter expert in
cell biology Lead and mentor a high-performing research team (Scientists, RAs, Project Leads) Design and oversee experiments, assays, and disease models Support screening, mechanism-of-action studies, and therapeutic lead identification Allocate resources across multiple programs and initiatives Review scientific reports, SOPs, and regulatory-support documents Provide career development and technical leadership Contribute strategic insight in
inborn errors of metabolism and lysosomal disorders Qualifications
PhD and 10+ years relevant experience Strong background in
metabolic diseases
(required) Experience with
enzyme-focused therapeutic approaches
