Overview
Meaningful Work From Day One . Direct, guide and coordinate a global logistics department with a spend of $100M+. The Global Logistics department is responsible for all global transportation, US logistics at Brown-Forman operated warehouses, and operational distribution activities across the Brown-Forman US Warehouse network. Works closely with internal and external customers, shipping facilities, suppliers and numerous transport/distribution companies utilizing supply chain management strategies in supporting and complementing sales & marketing activities. Oversee Global Transportation network to establish appropriate global strategies and maintain effective network design. What You Can Expect
Strategic Operations & Network Optimization End-to-End Oversight: Direct the efficient flow of raw materials, POS items, and finished goods from global points of origin to final destinations balancing cost with timeliness. Monitor weather and other global events with the ability to quickly adjust plans giving clear communication of potential disruptions to impacted personnel. Evaluate and implement optimal distribution methods—including global transportation and managed warehousing—to enhance field sales and marketing agility. Continuous Improvement: Review logistics business practices to streamline workflows, eliminate non-value-added activities, and maintain rigorous operating standards. Project Leadership: Lead service-related cost studies for new product launches, market expansions, and acquisitions to maximize service levels while minimizing landed costs. Financial Stewardship & Rate Negotiation Develop and manage the $60M+ annual logistics budget, including accurate forecasting and long-range financial planning. Lead rate negotiations and service-level agreements (SLAs) with global carriers and 3PL providers to control total logistics spend. Compliance, Risk & Regulatory Affairs Regulatory Oversight: Ensure total compliance with all domestic and international transportation agencies, including TTB and US Customs. Documentation & Bonded Goods: Direct the preparation of critical documentation for movement through Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ) and bonded warehouses. Risk Mitigation: Oversee the investigation and resolution of shipment discrepancies, loss/damage claims, and the maintenance of internal control systems. Ensure Brown-Forman’s logistics operation is in compliance with all internal policies. Cross-Functional Leadership & Relationship Management Stakeholder Collaboration: Cultivate strategic partnerships with internal sales, supply chain, marketing, and finance teams to provide logistics solutions for pricing and distribution requests. Act as the primary liaison for global suppliers and third-party logistics (3PL) partners to ensure seamless service integration. Facilitate inter-departmental communication to align logistics capabilities with broader corporate objectives. Team Development & Resource Allocation Guide, mentor, and develop departmental personnel to foster a high-performance culture. Monitor resource requirements and strategically allocate staff to meet fluctuating operational needs. Maintain expert-level knowledge of emerging trends, equipment, and legislation within the beverage and transportation industries. What You Bring To The Table
Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce/Business Administration/Logistics or related area plus 10+ yrs of experience in logistics related fields in a consumer products company. Working knowledge of supply chain management strategies, alcoholic beverage and transportation regulations, practices and procedures, external warehousing and manufacturing facilities, demand/supply planning and inventory management activities, and budget development. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain solid working relationships with all levels of personnel both internal and external to Brown-Forman. Demonstrated interpersonal skills & proven management experience with the ability to resolve conflict. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated leadership ability. Ability to travel internationally, visit production facilities and distributors. Proven ability to manage multiple projects, disciplines and staff; ability to organize and establish priorities.
