Senior Designer

to join our in‑house creative team in Manchester. This is a hands‑on, on‑site role for a multi‑skilled designer who can bring ideas to life across graphics, video, motion, web, and brand design. You’ll take a leading role in shaping our visual identity and ensuring our design work stays fresh, consistent, and effective.

The Role The

Senior Designer

will oversee the visual direction of Today Digital’s brands, creating high‑quality assets for editorial, marketing, and commercial use. From branding and motion graphics to UX and campaign design, this is a varied and creative role that will suit someone who enjoys owning projects from concept to delivery.

Key Responsibilities Brand & Identity

Maintain consistency and strengthen brand identity across all Today Digital channels.

Lead a full brand refresh covering every visual touchpoint, inside and outside the business.

Develop a long‑term brand and design strategy that supports business growth.

Work with the wider team on website design improvements and ongoing UX updates.

UX & Web Design

Improve user experience and site design across all platforms.

Carry out regular design QA and UX testing to ensure quality and consistency.

Collaborate with developers and content teams to improve usability and presentation.

Video & Motion Design

Create animations, branded stings, and video graphics to support storytelling and campaigns.

Deliver weekly video edits, short‑form social videos, and updated design templates.

Enhance video branding across editorial, marketing, and partner content.

Social Media & Community Assets

Produce on‑brand graphics and animations for social channels and community engagement.

Keep visual standards consistent across posts, campaigns, and community content.

Support marketing teams with creative ideas that boost reach and interaction.

Editorial & Commercial Content

Work with editorial and commercial teams to design graphics, infographics, and ad assets that bring stories and campaigns to life.

Produce materials for events, digital promotions, and brand partnerships.

Design Governance & Process

Develop simple design systems, templates, and approval workflows that ensure brand consistency and efficiency.

Oversee internal tools (e.g., design trackers, asset libraries) to support scalable creative delivery.

Conduct regular brand and design reviews to maintain high standards across all outputs.

Creative Leadership & Collaboration

Lead by example, setting design standards across the business.

Work closely with teams across marketing, video, and editorial to deliver joined‑up creative work.

Contribute ideas for new projects, brand initiatives, and digital experiences.

Essential Skills & Experience

Strong portfolio showing experience across graphic design, video editing, and motion graphics.

Excellent skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects).

Solid understanding of branding, UX design, typography, and visual layout.

Confident managing multiple projects and working to deadlines.

Good communicator and collaborative team player.

Desirable

Experience in B2B publishing, media, or technology.

Knowledge of animation for social platforms, responsive design, and WordPress or similar CMS.

Basic understanding of HTML/CSS to support web projects.
