Job Summary As an Assistant Director of Environmental Services, you are responsible for assisting in directing and overseeing the operational needs of the environmental services department at a hospital facility. You will lead a team of frontline associates and an environmental services manager. You will serve as a liaison between administration and departments and provide the highest possible level of service.
Key Responsibilities
Establish, review, and enforce housekeeping standards, work procedures, and workflows in alignment with facility policies and quality expectations
Supervise, manage, orient, train, coach, and develop housekeeping staff to ensure all patient, public, and support areas are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards
Oversee daily housekeeping operations to ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and service standards
Plan and manage staffing schedules, hours, work assignments, and job duties to ensure adequate coverage and optimal service delivery
Interview, select, hire, evaluate, and recommend disciplinary action or termination of housekeeping personnel in accordance with facility standards
Conduct regular facility inspections and evaluations, identify improvement opportunities, and recommend corrective action items, including support for internal relocations as needed
Schedule and coordinate major project work, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and availability of supplies and equipment
Manage housekeeping inventory, including conducting regular inventories, monitoring usage, and maintaining adequate stock of supplies and equipment
Conduct regular staff meetings and communicate effectively with nursing, maintenance, and other departments to coordinate housekeeping activities and support overall hospital operations
Additional duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
Three years of EVS/Housekeeping management experience preferably in a hospital environment, depending upon formal degree or training
Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) certification highly desirable
Excellent patient services, guest relations, or customer service experience
Experience with Federal & State healthcare surveys
Experience with P&L accountability and contract management preferred
Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet
