
Crane & Rigging Superintendent/Lift Director - Primoris Heavy Civil - Shreveport

Overview
The Crane & Rigging Superintendent/Certified Lift Director is responsible for supervising and directing operations within the crane & rigging discipline. This position oversees all crane operators and riggers during lifting operations and works in conjunction with project management for planning, scheduling, and communication of all project crane lifts. It is responsible for ensuring crane and rigging compliance, safety, schedule delivery, and quality of project work.
Responsibilities
Manage the project crane operator qualification program, including obtaining crane operator certifications, state licenses, and medical certificate verifications in alignment with company requirements.
Ensure that assigned personnel are properly qualified for crane and rigging tasks (signaling, rigging, crane operations); that they are trained, competent, and aware of their responsibilities and comply with all applicable standards, requirements, and safe work practices.
Consistently update recordkeeping of crane inspections (annual, daily, etc.), rigging inspections, and crane operator/rigger/signal person certifications and qualifications.
Oversee, develop, plan, and ensure compliance with crane lift plans (daily lift plans, critical lift plans, engineered lifts).
Oversee and identify crane A/D (assembly/disassembly) directors for inbound/outbound relocation and reconfiguration of cranes on site; coordinate with third‑party crane companies/personnel assisting in A/D operations.
Identify and establish designated communication methods (radios, hand signals) between crane operators and designated riggers prior to lifting operations.
Evaluate platforms (ground conditions, barge, etc.) and overhead/surrounding obstructions (powerlines, etc.) to ensure safe placement of cranes and establish a safe swing radius.
Oversee all crane maintenance needs, requests, and repairs in alignment with third‑party crane manufacturers/servicers, and coordinate with project management to schedule proactive maintenance in alignment with project work schedules.
Coordinate crane operator and rigger training needs and enforce safe work practices in conjunction with the HSE and Project Management.
Ensure that company and local/national (OSHA, ASME Lift Director, etc.) requirements and standards are being complied with within assigned areas of responsibility.
Review, approve, and oversee (in coordination with project management) any subcontractor/third‑party crane operations on project sites.
Implement corporate/segment/business unit crane and rigging policies, procedures, and instructions within assigned areas of operation.
Inspect crane and rigging operations and practices, taking appropriate corrective action to address improper crane and rigging work practices.
Perform other duties as required by project management.
Required Qualifications
3‑5 years of experience in a supervisory role.
10+ years of experience in the Crane and Rigging trade in major bridge, heavy civil, and pile driving operations.

NCCCO, NCCCER or equivalent Certified crane operator.
NCCCO Certified Lift Director for mobile and crawler cranes is required.
Certified rigger/signal person.
Knowledge and experience with ASME Lift Director requirements and OSHA crane and rigging regulations.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, spreadsheets, and 3D lift plan software.
Ability to read and interpret crane manufacturers’ operator manuals and load charts.
Experienced in safe use and inspection of rigging hardware.
Must have the ability to work in a team environment in coordination with Project Management, Supervisors, and Division Leadership.
Excellent communication and problem‑solving ability.
Travel to projects is required.
