
Director of Accounting

We are recruiting a Director of Accounting for a growing organization in RTP to oversee financial reporting, the close processes, and team development. This role blends hands‑on accounting responsibilities with oversight of reporting and provides an opportunity to act as a resource on more complex accounting matters when needed. The role partners closely with finance and operational teams and plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of financial information across the organization.
Responsibilities
Lead and oversee the month‑end close process, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness
Review account reconciliations and maintain the integrity of financial data across reporting cycles
Support preparation and review of financial statements and related reporting deliverables
Partner with internal teams to improve processes, reporting outputs, and overall efficiency
Act as a resource for more complex or less frequent accounting matters, providing guidance as needed
Coordinate with external partners to support audit and year‑end reporting requirements
Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations, including general ledger activity and transactional workflows
Assist with cash‑related activities, reporting requirements, and other operational finance needs
Strengthen and maintain internal controls, policies, and documentation
Support and develop members of the accounting team, providing guidance and mentorship
Requirements
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including a mix of public accounting and industry exposure
Prior experience leading or mentoring a team
Strong foundation in financial reporting and general accounting practices
Comfortable navigating more complex accounting scenarios and providing practical guidance
CPA required
