Position Summary Visit Shreveport-Bossier is seeking an energetic and motivated Marketing & Communications Intern to support the organization’s marketing initiatives and gain hands‑on experience in destination marketing. This internship provides real‑world exposure to tourism promotion, digital marketing, public relations, and content creation within the hospitality industry.

The ideal candidate is a creative thinker, strong writer, and highly organized individual who is comfortable working across digital and social media platforms. Interns will collaborate with the marketing team and contribute to projects that promote Shreveport-Bossier’s attractions, events, culinary scene, cultural experiences and economic impact.

This internship is designed to provide meaningful professional experience and help students build a strong marketing portfolio prior to graduation.

Key Responsibilities

Research and assist with writing press releases, blog posts, and editorial content for Visit Shreveport-Bossier websites.

Assist with the development and scheduling of social media and digital marketing content.

Capture photography and short‑form video content for use across social media, websites, and promotional materials.

Assist with media events, press conferences, and tourism‑related promotional events.

Support updates to marketing collateral such as visitor guides, brochures, and promotional materials.

Assist with maintaining and updating online event listings and website content.

Conduct research to support marketing campaigns, media outreach, and tourism trends.

Assist with digital marketing initiatives including campaign coordination and content development.

Assist with basic marketing analytics reporting including website performance and social media engagement.

Perform other marketing and communications duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.

Must provide a letter of recommendation from a marketing or communications professor.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Familiarity with social media platforms and digital content creation.

Basic photography or visual storytelling skills preferred.

Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, or Premiere) is a plus but not required.

Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Schedule & Compensation

This is a paid internship with compensation for up to 25 hours per week.

Internship hours are typically scheduled Monday–Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with flexibility to accommodate academic schedules.

Some evening or weekend hours may be required for special events or media opportunities.

Academic credit may be available depending on university requirements.
