What You Will Have An Opportunity To Do

Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Finance supports the Director of Finance in overseeing the organization’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial planning. This role assists with budgeting, financial reporting, audits, and internal controls while providing leadership to finance staff and partnering with departments to support organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Monitor general ledger activity to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards Support cash flow management, banking relationships, and investment activities Prepare financial reports for leadership, board, or external stakeholders

Budgeting & Forecasting

Support the development, monitoring, and revision of operating and capital budgets Analyze budget variances and provide clear explanations and recommendations Assist departments with budget planning and financial analysis

Compliance & Internal Controls

Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and accounting standards (e.g., GAAP) Assist with internal and external audits, including preparation of schedules and documentation Help maintain and strengthen internal controls, policies, and procedures

Leadership & Collaboration

Provide oversight, training, and support to finance team members Serve as a resource to department leaders on financial matters Act as Director of Finance designee when needed

Process Improvement & Systems

Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, efficiency, and reporting accuracy Assist with financial system upgrades, implementations, or process automation Support data integrity and financial system controls

Other Duties

Participate in strategic planning and special financial projects Perform other duties as assigned to support the finance function
