Job Overview The Multimedia Specialist (M&C Pro 2‑Digital Media, 8342DG) is a 0.75 FTE, University employee at the Minnesota Child Welfare Training Academy (MNCWTA) located under the Multidisciplinary Institute for Child Welfare (MICW). This position collaborates with the integrated teams of the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) and the University to create all video training and promotional products for the statewide MNCWTA and to support its ongoing operations. Hybrid work schedule required: 3 days on‑site, 2 days remote. The position reports to the Communications Supervisor and will be located off campus at the Minnesota Child Welfare Training Academy in Roseville. This position is not eligible for H‑1B or Green Card sponsorship and does not offer a STEM OPT training program. Job Responsibilities Curriculum Media Production (75%) Plan, schedule, and manage media‑related projects developed at the MNCWTA. Serve as technical lead on projects that include video (lecture, documentary, explainer‑style) and audio (podcasts). Assemble raw audio/visual material into finished products for training purposes. Ensure delivery of compelling content over the internet that adheres to the MNCWTA brand. Meet with stakeholders to evaluate, discuss, and propose ideas for media projects. Estimate production requirements, provide cost estimates, and evaluate copyright, clearance, and release requirements. Create and implement a budget for all production costs and expenses. Obtain and operate appropriate production materials and equipment (cameras, tapeless media, microphones, lights, video monitors, etc.). Conduct interviews with experts and subjects for video and podcasts. Create and evaluate outlines, scripts, and project concepts for clarity of purpose and technical approach. Determine timelines and handle disruptions to the project. Create graphics and soundtracks, and input music, dialogue, and effects to ensure high quality. Direct video productions ranging from single‑camera to multi‑camera field and studio productions. Operate post‑production equipment such as nonlinear editing systems, tapeless devices, and audio/video interfaces. Use software such as Final Cut Pro X to edit video, audio, and other materials to meet time, aesthetic, ethical, and broadcast quality standards. Utilize post‑production software for video editing, audio editing, DVD authoring, graphics creation, compositing, compressing, encoding/transcoding, and captioning. Coordinate archiving of media assets for short‑ and long‑term storage and access. Maintain the organization of production and post‑production equipment and software. Collaborations (20%) Stay in communication with the Curriculum team to enhance media production for curriculum needs. Collaborate with the LMS team to ensure smooth integration of media in Canvas. Work with the MNCWTA Communications team on promotional and reporting products that use video or other production. Meet with stakeholders through all project phases for input, problem solving, and schedule management. Conduct event photography. Other Duties as Assigned (5%) Participate in bi‑weekly supervision. Attend team meetings as scheduled. Attend other meetings and activities as assigned. Qualifications BA/BS plus at least two years of experience in video production or a combination of related education and work equal to at least six years. Understanding of video requirements for learning management systems such as Canvas and online hosting platforms like Vimeo. Experience in digital photography. Basic knowledge of Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Premiere, or similar video editing software. Understanding of human services. Preferred Qualifications Experience with whiteboard animation software, e.g., Vyond. Experience in documentary‑style video production. Experience in social work. Child welfare expertise. Understanding of state/tribal social services.
