Director Of Marketing And Public Relations

Clarkson College is currently seeking a Director of Marketing and Public Relations. The Director of Marketing and Public Relations serves as the expert in marketing, communications, media relations and public relations at Clarkson College. Under the supervision of the College President, this leadership position oversees the development and implementation of a multi-faceted recruitment plan and public relations program that includes external and internal channels. This position develops strategies in combination with executive leadership, academic program directors, director of innovative strategies, and the director of enrollment and advising. The Director of Marketing and Public Relations also drives recruitment initiatives, effectively positioning the Clarkson College brand in the marketplace and aligning messaging to the organizational Mission and Values. In addition, the Director of Marketing and Public Relations closely manages annual goals (key performance indicators) and objectives to drive initiatives that seek to recruit prospective students, recruit community learners and consumers to other college programming and resources, engage faculty and staff, build relationships with all college partners and stakeholders, and engage alumni with the Development and Alumni Administrator, all while accurately representing the mission and strategic initiatives of Clarkson College and its academic programs and other operations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, communications, business, public policy, journalism, advertising, development, or related field required.
  • Minimum five to seven years' experience in marketing, public relations communications, business, development, or a related field required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and implement strategic marketing and communications initiatives aligned with institutional goals, required.
  • Professional knowledge or the principles, practices, and techniques of public information, public relations, and community outreach programs required.
  • Experience with budget oversight and basic financial management related to departmental or project activities, required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with college faculty, staff, community members, media representatives, and colleagues required.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgement and creativity in interpreting and applying policies, events, and communications needs required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in bachelor's degree requirement fields or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of higher education marketing, including student recruitment and retention strategies preferred.
