Unclaimed Property Specialist 3 Job Location: Division of Tax Services, Address: 1600 W Monroe Street, Phoenix, AZ 85007

Salary: $23.00 hourly, Grade: 19, Closing Date: 4/13/2026

Job Summary: The Unclaimed Property Specialist 3 serves as the team lead and subject‑matter expert to the Unclaimed Property Unit’s Processing Team, ensuring the unit and team are in compliance with applicable State laws, statutes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures that govern its activities. This role is responsible for providing quality assurance to the work being conducted within the unit, which includes serving as the final point of approval for unclaimed property claims. This position may be available for remote work within Arizona (2 days per week in the office/hoteling).

Job Duties

Financial Management & Accounting: Perform comprehensive monthly reconciliations of all unclaimed property accounts and distribute detailed monthly financial reports.

Year‑End Operations: Lead year‑end preparation, reporting, and delivery; maintain precise financial filing systems.

Audit Compliance: Serve as the primary liaison for the Auditor General during annual UP reconciliation audits.

Fiscal Coordination: Resolve complex transfer discrepancies between Financial Services and the Unclaimed Property unit.

Outstanding Reporting: Execute un‑cleared reports queries and account for all outstanding holder reports.

Securities & Digital Asset Maintenance: Maintain and reconcile the UP Mutual Fund portfolio; jointly coordinate claims‑driven requests to sell or transfer funds back to claimants.

Security Reporting: Enter all security reports into Clearview Connect and research custodial information for various security types.

Stock Verification: Verify the deposit of stock issues via Nexen and post dividends and corporate actions that are due.

Cryptocurrency & New Assets: Manage reporting and reconciliation procedures for emerging asset classes, including cryptocurrency and digital holdings.

Annual Sales: Prepare and reconcile the annual sale of statutory mutual fund items.

Holder Relations & Data Integrity: Act as primary contact for holders, providing timely assistance via phone and email regarding statutes, form completion, and general FAQs.

Data Leadership: Lead all data entry and electronic import procedures for all types of unclaimed property reports (Cash, Stocks, Mutual Funds, etc.).

Discrepancy Resolution: Contact holders regarding reporting discrepancies and reconcile annual reports (Remit vs. Report).

Process Oversight: Ensure data entry/uploading is occurring at the proper pace and accuracy level.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)

Knowledge : Routine office procedures and organization; basic PC, office machinery, telephone system operations; unclaimed property, escheated property, securities, probate and domestic relations statutes; related industry rules and regulations; policy and procedures for determining ownership of unclaimed property; statute, rules and policy governing confidentiality.

Skill : Use of automated systems; mathematics; comprehensive analytical and decision‑making; interpreting and applying rules, regulations and statutes; verbal and written communication.

Ability : Work cooperatively with internal and external stakeholders; make independent decisions and judgments, resolve complex problems; examine records and compile evidence; gather and report facts; comprehend written and verbal instructions and apply them to varying situations; perform difficult analytical work; maintain several assignments concurrently; meet critical deadlines.

Selective Preferences

Any combination that meets the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA); typical ways KSAs are obtained may include, but are not limited to, a relevant degree from an accredited college or university such as an Associate’s Degree, training, coursework, and work experience relevant to the assignment.

Work experience and on‑the‑job training in the fields of unclaimed property, finance, audit or securities or college‑level education in the fields of accounting, business or public administration.

Pre‑Employment Requirements

Driver’s License: Must possess a current, valid class‑appropriate license and maintain acceptable driving records; must comply with driver training and insurance requirements as applicable.
