Position Summary As a Senior Database Developer on the Engineering Team, you will utilize your analytical and technical expertise across several key areas including designing and developing services for our commercial software products, enhancing database architecture and frameworks, and supporting database development for internal applications and automated software testing initiatives.

This role provides an opportunity to deepen your knowledge of energy markets, cloud-based software platforms, and SaaS business models while continuing to develop your technical skills alongside one of the most innovative and dedicated teams in the industry.

Position Details

Salary Range: $130,000 – $160,000 (depending on experience)

Location: Boulder, CO., Chicago, IL., Boston, MA., or Richmond, VA.

Employment Type: Full-Time | No C2C at this time. GC or USC

Work Arrangement: Hybrid | 1-2 times/week in office

Reports To: Engineering Manager

Primary Responsibilities

Design, develop, maintain, and optimize complex

Oracle PL/SQL systems

that support critical business logic across mission‑critical applications.

Investigate and work within large legacy PL/SQL codebases to diagnose issues, interpret embedded business rules, refactor code for clarity, and improve long‑term maintainability.

Perform in-depth data exploration to understand data structures, relationships, irregularities, and edge cases to strengthen system design and improve data quality.

Develop and optimize sophisticated SQL queries across large, highly relational datasets.

Tune SQL and PL/SQL performance using tools such as execution plans, optimizer statistics, trace files, hints, and indexing strategies.

Maintain the reliability, integrity, and scalability of database systems responsible for processing and transforming high volumes of data.

Contribute to architectural planning, database design guidelines, and coding standards with a focus on scalability and performance.

Work with

Snowflake

for data storage and synchronization while ensuring data consistency, accuracy, and performance across systems.

Support and mentor junior engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and the promotion of high coding standards.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in

Computer Science

or equivalent hands‑on experience

6+ years of experience developing

Oracle PL/SQL

(or similar procedural database technologies) in production environments

Strong SQL expertise, including writing and optimizing queries across large relational datasets

Experience analyzing and improving complex legacy database code

Demonstrated ability to diagnose, tune, and optimize database performance Preferred Qualifications

Experience with

Snowflake

or similar cloud data warehouse technologies

Familiarity with database change management tools such as

Liquibase

Experience working in SaaS or cloud‑based environments

Experience mentoring developers or performing code reviews

Exposure to energy markets, commodities trading, or financial data systems

Salary: Up to $160k/annual DOE + Benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401K)
