Sales Engineer-in-Training – Controls

Summary

Our Controls Sales Engineer-in-Training program is a 12 to 18-month technical sales development program for recent college graduates that focuses on developing technical and sales skills. Participants will gain practical experience and training in sales programs while working with internal stakeholders to drive sales growth of Havtech’s Solutions business.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Support Senior Sales Engineers in account management, including developing relationships with multiple buying influencers.

Collaborate with Havtech departments such as Service, New Equipment, and Spectrum Energy.

Maintain business relationships supporting Havtech’s success with sales engineers, subcontractors, design consultants, and vendors.

Prepare proposals, negotiate prices, and review contract terms against standards.

Develop and implement account-specific business plans to foster profitable partnerships.

About

Learn the controls sales process by creating estimates and proposals for HVAC Automation Systems for new and renovation projects, including reviewing plans and specifications.

Understand how to select and price HVAC controls equipment based on project plans.

Prepare proposals that meet contract requirements and are competitively positioned.

Develop sales strategies and manage bid communications.

Learn Havtech’s product lines, including Alerton, Honeywell, and others, and understand HVAC and automation solutions to meet client goals.

Support project management and order fulfillment by analyzing project needs, generating cost estimates, and preparing submittals.

Support post-sale processes such as facility walk-throughs, project scheduling, and scope management to ensure customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business-related field such as Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Construction.

Aspiring to become a successful Sales Engineer.

Strong interest in HVAC industry and related career.

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Ability to work independently, be persistent, and confident.
