Job Summary The Insurance Representative processes and monitors unpaid third‑party insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, or government‑assisted program accounts for proper reimbursement. Must understand and work accounts throughout the entire revenue cycle, preparing and submitting claims electronically or by paper. Secures necessary medical documentation, proactively identifies and follows up on outstanding insurance balances, and takes necessary actions for resolution in accordance with federal and state regulations. Maintains current knowledge of all state/federal billing requirements for insurance types within area of responsibility, processes denials, performs trend analyses, appeals, and resolves low‑payment accounts.
Key Responsibilities
Process and monitor unpaid third‑party insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, or government‑assisted program accounts for proper reimbursement.
Prepare and submit claims to payers electronically or by paper.
Secure necessary medical documentation required by payers.
Identify and perform follow‑up on outstanding insurance balances.
Take necessary action for account resolution in compliance with federal and state regulations.
Maintain current knowledge of all state/federal billing requirements for insurance types within area of responsibility.
Process and resolve denials and payer rejections.
Conduct trend analyses, appeals, and resolve low‑payment or under‑paid accounts.
Provide input for payer‑specific meetings.
Handle difficult account situations and resolve issues that delay payments.
Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as requested.
Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred; post‑secondary or trade courses in accounting, business, or communications helpful. Six months related work experience required. Computer skills essential. Leadership may require related experience for internal applicants.
