This Opportunity kW Mission Critical Engineering, a WSP USA company, is seeking a Telecommunications Designer to work from any of our offices: Troy NY, New York NY, Atlanta GA, Milwaukee WI, Tempe AZ, or Herndon VA. The designer will create Outside Plant Pathways and other building systems, including MMR/IDF layouts, cable tray layouts, wireless access point layouts, and structured cabling infrastructure to support the Controls Network.

Your Impact

Work independently on a variety of BIM/CAD design assignments across multiple engineering disciplines.

Produce accurate 2D drawings and 3‑D BIM models using Revit or an equivalent BIM program.

Design low‑voltage systems for buildings—including telecommunications, audio‑visual, security, and control integrations.

Meet required schedules while delivering quality work.

Perform quality assurance and quality control of design packages.

Support site and building technology design during construction.

Research and recommend fundamental components identified in designs.

Develop equipment, conveyance, and device layouts, floor plans, and riser diagrams.

Prepare cable schedules and specifications.

Perform construction administration tasks.

Survey and evaluate existing conditions.

Collaborate with multi‑discipline teams to create drawing and specification documents for issuances to architects, contractors, and building owners.

Demonstrate a deep understanding of the services provided by the kW MCE engineering and design teams.

Implement best‑practice procedures.

Integrate project requirements into mission‑critical facility designs.

Represent the Telecom discipline in internal and client‑facing meetings.

Lead the Telecom design team on projects.

Mentor and lead junior designers.

Who You Are The ideal candidate is highly experienced in Revit and AutoCAD, works with information and communications technology, possesses strong communication skills, and is comfortable liaising with internal and external design, client, and construction teams.

Required Qualifications

3–5 years of experience designing low‑voltage systems for high‑performing commercial, industrial, or mission‑critical/data‑center buildings.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience.

Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Attention to detail, highly organized, self‑starter.

Ability to travel to project sites.

Proven record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications

Mission Critical/Data Center experience.

Experience with international projects.

RCDD and/or DCDC certifications.
