Product Ownership – Responsibilities
Product backlog management: Create, manage, and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring user stories are well‑defined with clear acceptance criteria for the development team.
Requirements analysis: Gather and analyze requirements from stakeholders, translating business needs into user stories and acceptance criteria.
Stakeholder communication: Act as the primary liaison between stakeholders, development teams, and other members, communicating the product vision and progress.
Product vision and strategy: Define and communicate the product vision and strategy, ensuring the development team is aligned with business goals and market needs.
Collaboration: Work closely with development teams, product managers, and other departments to ensure the product is built correctly and meets customer needs.
Product performance analysis: Track key performance metrics and analyze user behavior to identify areas for improvement and influence future product decisions.
Delivery and acceptance: Accept or reject deliverables from the development team based on whether they meet the defined criteria, and assist with deployments.
Leadership: Ability to lead and influence a cross‑functional team to achieve product goals.
A strong understanding of the specific industry or product is often required.
Must Have Technical/Functional Skills
Communication and interpersonal skills: Ability to effectively communicate with technical teams and non‑technical stakeholders.
Analytical and problem‑solving skills: Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and translate complex information into actionable insights.
Agile/Scrum methodology: Familiarity with Agile development processes is essential, as the role often works within a Scrum framework.
Leadership: Ability to lead and influence a cross‑functional team to achieve product goals.
