We are looking for a Temp to Perm Sleepwear Designer, Adult & Family with a top fashion brand in NYC.
As a Sleepwear Designer, you will bring creativity, technical expertise, and strong merchandising sensibility to the development of seasonal sleepwear assortments.
Location & Compensation: Must work onsite in NYC – Monday to Thursday, Work‑From‑Home Friday. Pay: $38‑$42 per hour.
Responsibilities Strategy & Innovation
Research trend direction, conduct competitive analysis, and source fabrics, trims, and inspiration.
Develop design concepts, mood boards, mock‑ups, color‑ups, and presentation materials for internal and external meetings.
Build initial seasonal design categories aligned with assortment strategy and cost targets.
Operations & Execution
Design products aligned to style plans, sales needs, and development calendars.
Create Illustrator sketches; review and maintain spec sheets, line sheets, and development logs with accuracy and attention to detail.
Select and review raw materials and trims, maintaining the fabric and trim library.
Partner with the sample room to develop design and showroom samples.
Approve lab dips with Senior Designers, ensuring alignment with color standards and licensor directives.
Review prints and graphics, provide revision feedback, and participate in the fit and approval process.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Build strong, collaborative relationships with internal partners including Sales, Technical Design, and Production.
Coordinate communication and follow‑up to support timely execution.
Leadership & Teamwork
Contribute positively to team culture and manage up when appropriate.
Support team development, collaboration, and talent retention.
Required Qualifications
Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and balance creativity with attention to detail.
Strong design, technical, and merchandising skills; confident sketching ability.
Deep knowledge of garment construction, patternmaking, silhouettes, color, sewing techniques, sleepwear fabrication, and trims.
Familiarity with print design and manufacturing processes.
Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design.
4–5 years of experience in apparel and/or sleepwear design.
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, CAD, and Mac‑based systems.
