The Opportunity The Technical Director leads the Industrial Water business marketing and solution development for global industrial clients. You will expand Black & Veatch’s Water Solutions to data centers, semiconductor manufacturing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, mining, consumer products, oil & gas, technology, heavy industry, and energy clients. You will serve as a key liaison between sales, solution groups, and project teams to identify, develop, and win new business while ensuring flawless execution of high‑purity, high‑reliability projects.
The Team You will collaborate with Black & Veatch’s Government & Communities sector and the broader Industrial Water teams to build integrated solution offerings and support project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Leverage relationships with the Industrial Water and Black & Veatch sales force to identify new opportunities, pre‑position, propose, interview, and capture new business for life sciences, semiconductor, mining, oil & gas, technology, and heavy industry/manufacturing clients.
Lead global strategic planning for Industrial Water clients, building deep client relationships, expanding work volume, and ensuring flawless project execution in complex, high‑purity manufacturing environments.
Act as a seller‑doer on applicable projects with support from the BV Project Management Team, local resources, and global solution teams.
Interface with solution groups (Treatment, Water Resources & Community Planning, Environmental, Civil Works) to compile integrated client‑service offerings.
Serve as a technical resource and mentor for the BV Project Management Team and provide oversight for training program development.
Monitor, analyze, and report key customer drivers and market trends to upper‑level management.
Attract, source, and mentor talent to grow regional and solution teams.
Track market trends, identify growth services and geographic markets, and prepare quarterly trend updates and future recommendations.
Prepare marketing materials and thought‑leadership articles in emerging markets, collaborating with marketing staff.
Management Responsibilities Acts as a project manager, responsible for assembling and leading project teams as required for individual projects.
Preferred Qualifications
20+ years of industrial water experience.
Demonstrated experience in semiconductor or pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, including water supply, treatment, reuse, and wastewater solutions in regulated or high‑purity environments.
Industry experience across life sciences, semiconductors, mining, oil & gas, technology, and heavy industry/manufacturing.
Experience in a client‑facing or business development role with acquisition of professional services.
Experience executing strategic planning initiatives.
Experience attracting, growing, and leading project teams and executing projects.
Familiarity with industrial water drivers and client ecosystems.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Work Environment / Physical Demands
Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days based on manager discretion, job performance, and work assignments.
Typical office and construction environments, extreme weather conditions, high noise levels, safety hazards (electric currents, scaffolding, high places, chemical exposure), atmospheric conditions (fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, poor ventilation). Requires sitting, walking, talking, hearing, reading, writing, keyboarding, driving, filing, reaching, stooping, crouching, bending, standing for extended periods, and lifting or carrying up to 40 pounds.
