Position Overview Our Electrical Designers at Kiewit are key contributors to the development of complex electrical power distribution and control systems for large‑scale industrial facilities. In this role, you will translate engineering intent into highly coordinated, constructible electrical designs using advanced 3D modeling in REVIT and Smartplant 3D. You’ll work across medium‑voltage and low‑voltage systems, grounding and bonding networks, cable routing strategies, lighting and photometric layouts, and equipment integration for process‑driven environments. Our Electrical and I&C design teams contribute to major projects every day and are central to reliability, safety and constructability for critical and complex facilities. Our Industrial Market is expanding due to new work in Hyperscale Data Centers, and increased work in the Water/Wastewater and Campus/Industrial energy sectors.

Location This position can be based out of locations where we have Kiewit offices (Lenexa, KS; Lone Tree, CO; Bloomington, MN; Houston, TX). We offer relocation assistance to our Lenexa, Kansas district office only. To work fully remote in our Bloomington or Houston office, the role is open only to Senior Designers (10+ years of experience) with 10+ years in REVIT or Smartplant 3D.

Responsibilities

Utilize Revit 3D (primarily) and Smartplant 3D design tools to design and draft drawings for electrical systems for buildings and industrial facilities.

Key Deliverables include:

Power distribution diagrams

Electrical schematics

One‑line diagrams

3D models

Load lists

Panel schedules

Cable and equipment sizing coordination with engineers

Power plans and lighting plans

Lightning protection

Raceway and conduit routing plans

Cable tray layouts

Grounding layouts

3D equipment layouts (Transformers, switchgear, MCCs, VFDs)

Model‑based quantity takeoffs

Clash detection and coordination with other disciplines

Utilize codes and standards to complete assignments with little supervision.

Identify changes in scope of work during a project and produce design changes to stay within budget and schedule. Senior designers may lead projects and support other designers.

Take initiative to meet or exceed quality and expected outcome requirements of internal and external customers.

Perform assigned work efficiently and effectively to maximize productivity while complying with company standards to produce quality deliverables.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology and a minimum of 4 years of Electrical design and modeling experience, including 3D modeling and the deliverables listed above. If no degree, an equivalent High School diploma plus 8 years’ related experience.

For senior designers: a minimum of 10 years using either REVIT and/or Smartplant 3D.

For mid‑level engineers: a minimum of 5 years using Revit for 3D modeling or a minimum of 5 years modeling in Smartplant 3D or SolidWorks.

Works collaboratively across departments and involves others in solving problems. Initiates meetings within own team, other disciplines or internal customers for clarity on work.

Supports project teams and departments with design support for drawings, specifications, IO lists. Works well with others to accomplish common goals and objectives. Understanding of NEC code and ANSI/IEEE standards.

Able to manage multiple responsibilities with set expectations and meet deadlines. Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing. Detail oriented and a strong team player.

Has experience working with multi‑disciplined teams and subcontractors for equipment. Design for construction experience preferred; Design/Build or EPC project experience preferred.

Compensation Base Compensation: $70,000 - $130,000 (Actual compensation varies based on education, experience, skillset, and/or location). The posting will be active from 04/02/2026 to 07/07/2026.
