The Director of Product Design for the Onboarding portfolio is a strategic, collaborative leader responsible for shaping the end-to-end experience of how members first engage with Humana’s digital ecosystem post enrollment. This role requires deep domain expertise in registration, login, account creation/management, authentication, identity verification, and account recovery flows, ensuring our onboarding experiences are seamless, secure, accessible, and built on a strong foundation of trust. This role also supports post enrollment needs; helping members to confirm their plan, understand their benefits, and take quick action.

You will lead a team of product designers focused on strengthening identity assurance and delivering a friction‑right onboarding experience that balances usability, security, and regulatory requirements. As a systems thinker and influential partner, you will work across Product, Engineering, Identity & Access Management (IAM), Marketing and Legal teams to drive a unified onboarding strategy across platforms.

Key Responsibilities Leadership & Strategy

Lead, mentor, and grow a team of product designers while fostering a high performing, inclusive, and collaborative design culture

Define and drive the long‑term design strategy for onboarding, ensuring experiences are member centered, compliant, and aligned to business priorities

Advocate for design excellence and establish a clear vision for identity related experiences across web and mobile ecosystems

Domain Expertise – Identity & Access

Lead design for core identity experiences including registration, login, multifactor authentication, identity verification, password management, and account recovery

Partner with IAM, Security, and Architecture teams to design friction‑right authentication and verification workflows that meet enterprise risk thresholds

Ensure onboarding flows comply with accessibility requirements, privacy regulations, and emerging identity standards

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

Partner closely with Product, Engineering, IAM, Legal, Compliance, and Marketing to define priorities and deliver unified solutions across platforms

Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, navigating constraints, and influencing teams in a complex, matrixed environment

Collaborate with Research and Content Design to inform onboarding improvements through behavioral insights, usability testing, and continuous discovery

Experience Quality & Delivery

Ensure design output is high‑quality, cohesive, and reflects deep understanding of member needs, technical realities, and operational workflows

Use prototypes, journey maps, and storytelling to communicate design direction and drive alignment with executive stakeholders

Establish design principles, future state visions, and experience roadmaps that balance near‑term delivery with long‑term onboarding strategy

Use your skills to make an impact Required Qualifications

12+ years of experience in UX or Product Design, including 4+ years in a senior or director level leadership role

Demonstrated expertise in digital identity, including registration, login, authentication, identity verification, and account creation

Strong understanding of performance metrics and data‑informed design

Experience leading design for complex, regulated, or high security environments (e.g., healthcare, financial services, government, insurance)

Strong portfolio demonstrating systems thinking, scalable frameworks, and end‑to‑end experience design

Experience leading or guiding user research and applying insights to design

Proven ability to influence at all levels and drive cross‑functionality

Strong organizational and prioritization skills in fast‑paced environments

Excellent analytical and process‑oriented thinking

Mastery of Figma and other modern design tools

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in a relevant design discipline (HCI, Interaction Design, UX Design)

Experience designing inclusive and accessible experiences, especially for older adults

Familiarity with IAM concepts (MFA, risk‑based authentication, identity proofing, SSO)

Travel While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Scheduled Weekly Hours 40

Pay Range The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$138,900 - $191,000 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
