The Director, IIA Quality Services plays a mission‑critical leadership role in elevating Internal Audit Quality Around the World. This role provides strategic direction and operational leadership for all IIA Quality Services activities, driving the successful global delivery and scalable implementation of the IIA Global Quality Certification for internal audit functions and quality assessment services aligned with the Global Internal Audit Standards (GIAS).
Quality assessments are foundational to promote professional internal auditing, regulatory confidence, and stakeholder trust—and this role serves as a visible global advocate for its value across the profession. Key Leadership Responsibilities
Provide strategic and operational leadership for all IIA Quality Services and quality assessment programs, ensuring global relevance, consistency, and scalability.
Own the end‑to‑end success and market adoption of the IIA Global Quality Certification, including growth strategy, operational excellence, and continuous enhancement.
Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing multidisciplinary team, fostering innovation, accountability, and collaboration.
Serve as a global advocate for quality assessment as a core pillar of the internal audit profession and a key enabler of credibility under the Global Internal Audit Standards (GIAS).
Advance advocacy for internal audit quality and showcase the expertise of the IIA Quality Services team through thought leadership publications and presentations to IIA Chapters, National Institutes, and other professional organizations.
Ensure that methodologies and report templates employed by IIA Quality Services are current and updated as needed.
Global & Institute Engagement
Strengthen and expand international partnerships with IIA National Institutes to scale quality assessment services worldwide.
Serve as primary liaison with Institutes delivering quality services in partnership with IIA Quality Services, ensuring alignment with GIAS‑based methodologies, the IIA Global Quality Certification, and expectations.
Represent IIA Quality Services in international forums, conferences, and thought‑leadership engagements focused on quality assessment and professional internal audit excellence.
Innovation, Technology & Growth
Leverage artificial intelligence, data analytics, and emerging technologies to modernize quality assessment methodologies and internal operating processes.
Identify, evaluate, and develop new business opportunities, service offerings, and value‑added solutions for chief audit executives and internal audit functions.
Drive continuous improvement, digitization, and scalability of quality assessment delivery models to enhance speed, insight, and client experience.
Operational & Financial Management
Provide oversight of IIA Quality Services operations, performance metrics, budgets, forecasting, dashboards, and long‑term financial sustainability and growth.
Ensure consistent, high‑quality delivery of external quality assessments aligned with the Global Internal Audit Standards.
Review and approve quality assessment reports and deliverables to ensure technical excellence, clarity, and consistency.
Oversee the IIA Quality Services Operations team including coordination of proposal issuance, contracting, advisor assignment and contracting, billing, etc.
Standards, Guidance & Professional Influence
Promote understanding and application of the Global Internal Audit Standards (GIAS) across global internal audit communities.
Collaborate with internal IIA stakeholders on guidance, education, research, and professional initiatives related to quality assessment and standards adoption.
Participate in quality assessments as needed, serving as a senior subject‑matter expert or engagement leader.
Supervisory Responsibilities Directly manages and develops a team of quality services professionals and quality advisors, and oversees global pools of quality advisors supporting assessments and certification activities. Responsible for performance management, resource planning, capability development, and fostering strong collaboration across IIA staff, Institutes, and volunteer leadership.
Qualifications – Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
Eight or more years of progressive internal audit or professional services experience, including leadership at the manager level or above.
Previous experience as a Chief Audit Executive (CAE) or equivalent senior internal audit leadership role is highly desirable.
Proven experience in external quality assessments and applying the Global Internal Audit Standards in practice.
Experience working with global organizations, professional associations, or standards‑based environments strongly preferred.
Certifications
Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) required.
Additional credentials such as CPA, CA, CISA, CFE or other relevant professional certifications are a strong plus.
Certificate in Quality Assessment or the ability to obtain it within six months.

Deep understanding of the Global Internal Audit Standards and quality assessment methodologies. This includes the ability to provide implementation guidance to IIA members, clients, potential clients, and members of the IIA Audit Leaders Network.

Experience leveraging AI, digital tools, or advanced analytics to improve professional services delivery.
Excellent executive communication, presentation, writing skills, and influence skills.
Fluency in English required; proficiency in additional languages is a strong asset.
Work Environment Hybrid role requiring approximately 40% on‑site presence at IIA Headquarters in Lake Mary, Florida (two days per week). Occasional international travel expected.
