Director of Public Policy & Advocacy
Status: Full time (37.5 hours/week); Exempt, Hybrid – 2 to 3 days a week in the office
Salary Range: $145,000 - $160,000 per year
Role Description This full-time hybrid position for a Director of Public Policy & Advocacy at the Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP), housed at FASEB in Rockville, MD, includes the option for some remote work. The Director will develop and lead advocacy strategies to address legislative, regulatory, and public policy issues relevant to molecular pathology. Responsibilities include monitoring and analyzing policy developments, engaging with governmental agencies and stakeholders, preparing policy statements, and coordinating advocacy efforts. The Director will also build relationships with decision-makers, represent AMP in coalitions, and serve as the key point of contact for public policy matters.
Qualifications
Expertise in Governmental Affairs, Government Relations, and Lobbying
Strong knowledge of Legislative Relations and the legislative process
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to develop, implement, and manage advocacy strategies and initiatives
Strong analytical skills to evaluate policy developments and their implications
Proven track record of working in public policy or related fields
Understanding of or experience in healthcare, molecular pathology, or biomedical research is a plus
Advanced degree in Public Policy, Law, Health Policy, or a related field preferred
Location AMP is currently hybrid: Staff come into the office two or three days per week. This position is located in Rockville, Maryland, within walking distance to the Metro and on major bus lines.
