Silvus Technologies, a subsidiary of Motorola Solutions, is a leading provider of advanced MANET and MIMO communications systems that are reshaping mesh network technology for mission‑critical applications. The company is seeking a Director of Business Development for the United States Marine Corps (USMC).

This position is eligible for 100% remote work (subject to eligibility requirements). Candidates must be based in the continental United States.

Role and Responsibilities Market Strategy and Development

Develop and execute a comprehensive United States Marine Corps (USMC) business strategy addressing near‑term and emerging opportunities across Department of Defense (DoD) and Allied customers.

Define market segments, growth drivers, procurement pathways, and competitive positioning within the broader electronic warfare ecosystem.

Partner with Product Management and Engineering teams to align customer needs with Silvus’ evolving portfolio of RF and networking technologies.

Maintain awareness of Force Design and related modernization initiatives to anticipate demand and guide long‑term planning.

Customer Engagement and Capture

Establish and expand relationships with Program Offices, PEOs, and Prime Contractors active in the electronic warfare and spectrum‑operations community.

Lead opportunity identification, qualification, and capture planning in collaboration with internal technical and program teams.

Represent Silvus at industry events, trade shows, and government forums to strengthen visibility within the USMC community.

Partnerships and Routes to Market

Identify and pursue strategic alliances with OEMs, system integrators, and channel partners to accelerate market entry and solution adoption.

Evaluate and recommend business models and teaming strategies that maximize reach, speed to market, and return on investment.

Support cross‑functional coordination to ensure seamless execution from opportunity pursuit through contract award.

Business Planning and Reporting

Build a data‑driven business plan and forecast that is aligned with corporate objectives.

Provide regular reporting to senior leadership on pipeline development, capture performance, and competitive insights.

Maintain accurate CRM records and adhere to company sales‑management processes.

Perform other related duties as required.

Travel requirements – up to 50%.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

Minimum 10+ years of experience in business development, capture management, or program management within the defense or aerospace sectors; or 8 years with a bachelor’s degree; or 6 years with an advanced degree.

Minimum 3 years of experience in defense sales or business development, specifically focused on the US Marine Corps.

Proven track record of capturing complex, long‑cycle DoD programs (Programs of Record).

Strong understanding of DoD acquisition processes, contract vehicles (IDIQ, OTA, BPA), and FAR/DFARS compliance.

Demonstrated experience building relationships within USMC acquisition offices and with relevant prime contractors.

Experience leading all phases of business capture (whitepapers, proposals, RFI/RFP response, teaming, strategic positioning).

Practical understanding of product development, technology transitioning, and marketing/product planning for US military applications.

Knowledge of conducting and directing competitive product analysis using market research techniques and a solid technical understanding of agency needs and requirements.

Strong persuasive communication and executive briefing skills.

Deep familiarity with USMC organizational structure, acquisition processes, and capability development lifecycle.

Security Clearance: Active U.S. Government SECRET clearance or ability to obtain one within 15 months of hire.

Must be a U.S. Citizen due to clients under U.S. government contracts.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related technical field.

Comprehensive understanding of electronic attack and electronic support technologies, including radio frequency sensing, threat detection, jamming, and spectrum management.

Awareness of CEMA, SIGINT, cyber‑electromagnetic convergence, and future force‑modernization initiatives.

Technical familiarity with radio frequency systems, spectrum operations, and electronic warfare mission areas (ES, EA, EP).

Demonstrated ability to define new markets and go‑to‑market strategies for advanced defense technologies.

Proven leadership influencing cross‑functional engineering and product teams to align technical capability with customer need.

Exceptional communication, relationship‑building, and presentation skills across technical and executive audiences.

- Lift equipment up to 20 lbs. for the set‑up of demonstrations and testing.

- Perform bending and reaching movements to place items on lower and higher shelves.

Compensation Annual base salary range: $180,000 – $200,000 with opportunity for milestone incentives. Potential OTE: $180,000 – $280,000 annually.
