Director of Legal Artificial Intelligence (AI) reports to the Chief Information & Risk Officer. This position will assist with the evaluation, implementation, optimization, and usage of artificial intelligence solutions across legal practice groups and administrative functions.
This innovative role will serve as an internal resource on AI platforms such as Harvey, Microsoft Copilot, and other AI solutions approved by the firm. You will have the opportunity to support AI adoption, refine attorney workflows, and enhance internal operations through effective AI integration. Required Education & Experience
At least 3 years of experience in a law firm or professional services environment, with exposure to legal technology and AI tools.
Knowledge of current AI platforms used in legal settings, including generative AI tools (e.g., Harvey, CoCounsel, Microsoft Copilot), and a strong understanding of compliance, governance, and ethical considerations related to AI.
Proven experience in leading technology adoption, process improvement, change management, and cross-functional collaboration, particularly in legal and administrative workflows.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders, simplify complex technical concepts, and demonstrate AI tool benefits to non-technical users.
Strong understanding of legal practice and administrative operations within law firms, including legal data privacy, security, and AI integration into legal practice management systems.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives and stakeholders, with strong project management skills and a client‑focused mindset.
Experience in technology training and developing materials to support AI adoption, including onboarding and ongoing education for legal professionals and staff.
Preferred Education & Experience
JD or advanced degree in law, computer science, or related field strongly preferred.
AMLaw 200 firm or legal tech provider experience preferred.
Project management certifications (PMP, for example) preferred.

Serve as the subject matter expert for the firm’s Legal GenAI platforms.
Assist with the development and execution of a comprehensive roadmap for AI adoption, integration, and enhancement aligned with firm strategy, practice group needs, and business objectives.
Collaborate with practice group leaders, attorneys, and business services teams to identify, prioritize, and implement high‑impact legal and administrative use cases.
Monitor industry trends, peer firm activities, vendor offerings, and emerging AI technologies to ensure the firm remains at the forefront of legal innovation.
Assess, recommend, and assist with the implementation of AI technologies across legal and administrative workflows.
Partner with IT, security, privacy, and data teams to ensure secure, scalable, and compliant platform operations.
Lead pilots, proofs of concept, and phased rollouts; capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.
Liaise with vendors for product demonstrations, pilots, licensing, performance evaluation, and ongoing optimization.
User Enablement, Training & Adoption (30%)
Collaborate with Enablement and Training teams to design and deliver training programs, onboarding materials, and practice‑specific resources.
Assist with the development of user guides, best practices, prompt libraries, and change‑management materials to support adoption.
Work with AI champions and super users within practice groups to promote reuse, share best practices, and drive engagement.
Gather user feedback, monitor adoption and usage metrics, and implement initiatives to maximize value realization.
Performance, Reporting & Value Measurement (10%)
Define, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including usage, efficiency gains, ROI, matter impact, user satisfaction, and profitability.
Analyze the impact of AI tools on legal workflows and matter efficiency.
Provide regular updates and insights to firm leadership on platform performance, challenges, and strategic opportunities.
General and Administrative (5%)
Participate in ongoing process improvement assessments and initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
