We are seeking a dynamic and experienced
Director of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)
to provide strategic leadership and oversight of all safety, environmental, and occupational health programs across our organization. This role requires a balance of regulatory expertise and operational execution to shape a safety-first culture, reduce occupational injuries, and drive organizational safety goals.
As a key member of the leadership team, you will hold director-level responsibility for a large manufacturing organization, leading the development and execution of company-wide EHS strategies. Your leadership will be instrumental in fostering accountability, advancing safety technology, and ensuring the health and safety of our workforce.
This position reports directly to the CEO and provides direction to a multi-functional team of safety specialists, environmental specialists, and occupational health professionals, while also overseeing site security and wellness-related operations.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership in the development and execution of company-wide EHS programs, policies, procedures and trainings
Ensure full compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations and standards
Serve as the organization’s subject matter expert, leveraging deep regulatory expertise to mitigate risk and ensure compliance
Develop company-wide safety strategies that align with business objectives and drive measurable results
Lead initiatives to reduce occupational injuries and continuously improve overall safety performance
Drive organizational safety goals through data analysis, performance metrics, and accountability systems
Mentor site leadership to act as effective safety coaches, strengthening engagement and ownership at all levels
Lead investigations into incidents, near misses, and environmental events; ensure root cause analysis and corrective actions are taken
Drive safety technology implementation to enhance reporting, tracking, and prevention efforts
Direct and develop a team of safety, environmental, and occupational health professionals
Oversee environmental compliance efforts, including permitting, reporting, and sustainability initiatives
Provide leadership oversight for onsite security operations and wellness center operations
Lead audits, inspections, and regulatory interactions
Manage departmental budget, resources, and capital planning for EHS initiatives
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or related field required (Master’s level preferred)
10+ years of progressive EHS experience, including leadership in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Demonstrated success in a director-level EHS role within a large manufacturing organization
Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable regulatory frameworks
Proven ability to shape a safety-first culture and influence leadership at all levels
Experience implementing EHS systems, tools, and technologies
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to drive organizational change
