Channel Sales Engineer

We’re looking for a skilled Channel Sales Engineer (SE) based in the Chicagoland area to support our technical sales efforts and drive revenue. The role focuses on pre‑sales engagement, solution design, and partnership with channel & alliance partners.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with the account team to develop territory plans, account strategies, and sales plans.

Engage senior IT leaders directly, qualify and understand technical, financial, operational, and business challenges.

Translate pre‑sales discovery into concise messaging that highlights product benefits.

Develop and present technical account plans and proof‑of‑conception demonstrations.

Coordinate demonstrations, pilots, and proof‑of‑conception activities.

Provide technical expertise and enablement support to channel and alliance partners.

Maintain professional knowledge through training, certifications, and conferences.

Use Salesforce.com to document key issues, business reviews, and field sales activities.

Assist in product or process improvements and support business goals.

Qualifications

5+ years in software or storage, 3+ years pre‑sales sales engineering.

Experience selling to enterprise/commercial clients and territories.

Strong consulting selling skills and knowledge of MEDDIC, TAS, SPIN, etc.

Experience delivering proofs of concept, architecting data‑management solutions (backup, recovery, migration, replication, compliance, SRM).

Good understanding of common licensing models, operating systems, hypervisors, cloud and major enterprise applications (SAP, Oracle, Exchange, DB2, SharePoint).

Strong knowledge of infrastructure technologies (storage, servers, networking, cloud, hyper‑convergence).

Proven track record managing 3+ major accounts (Fortune 500‑1000).

BS or MS degree in Computer Science/engineering or related field preferred.

Proficient in Salesforce.com and other sales tools.

Can work remotely and autonomously; travel up to 50%.

Located in the Chicagoland area.
