Description
Indiana Farmers is currently looking for a Commercial Lines Underwriter I to join our Underwriting team. The right candidate will collaborate closely with both underwriters and assistant underwriters to evaluate and analyze risks. Commercial underwriting experience or familiarity with the commercial industry are preferred, but we could also consider someone with property/casualty insurance who is willing to work hard and learn quickly. As a Commercial Lines Underwriter with Indiana Farmers Insurance, you will help drive informed decision making in support of our vision.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Two years of previous commercial underwriting experience preferred; equivalent experience in a property/casualty insurance company or agency customer service field acceptable.
Review new insurance applications, renewals, and risk acceptance according to designated premium and authority guidelines.
Work with assigned agents to develop cooperative relationships that foster growth and profitability.
Analyze insurance information to determine appropriate premiums, limits, retention, and coverages for approved risks.
Problem‑solving and decision‑making skills required; work with other territory underwriters to resolve customers’ coverage and underwriting questions.
Provide excellent customer service.
College degree preferred; insurance designation or insurance‑related coursework preferred.
