TEKsystems is hiring: UI Designer in New York
TEKsystems, New York, NY, United States
UI Designer (Mobile)
Hybrid – New York City (Manhattan)
Must be based close enough to commute for in‑office collaboration
About the Role We’re looking for a UI‑craft‑driven Product Designer with strong visual instincts and experience designing consumer‑facing digital products, with a focus on native mobile applications.
This role is ideal for a designer who excels in high‑fidelity interface design, cares deeply about visual polish, and enjoys bringing clarity, personality, and refinement to product experiences.
You’ll partner closely with a senior product and UX lead, owning visual execution and helping translate product direction into elegant, production‑ready mobile interfaces.
While mobile experience is important, we’re especially interested in designers who demonstrate excellent UI craft, strong design fundamentals, and the ability to elevate product experiences through thoughtful visual design, interaction, and motion.
This role plays a key part in raising the overall quality, creativity, and visual consistency of a large‑scale mobile app.
What You’ll Do
Design high‑fidelity UI for new features and enhancements across a native mobile app
Translate product requirements, user flows, and low‑fidelity concepts into polished, visually compelling interfaces
Apply strong visual hierarchy, layout, typography, color, and spacing to guide user behavior and improve usability
Create interactive prototypes to communicate flows, interaction behavior, and edge cases
Design thoughtful loading states, progress indicators, empty states, and micro‑interactions that enhance perceived performance and delight
Work within and help evolve an established mobile design system, contributing refinements and visual improvements
Partner closely with engineering to ensure high‑quality execution and faithful implementation of designs
Balance multiple projects while maintaining a high bar for UI craft and attention to detail
What We’re Looking For
Strong visual UI craft demonstrated through a polished portfolio
3–5 years of experience designing digital products, with meaningful experience in native mobile applications (iOS and/or Android)
Ability to take UX direction and product concepts and elevate them into high‑quality, high‑fidelity UI
Excellent understanding of visual design fundamentals, including typography, color, spacing, layout, and hierarchy
Advanced proficiency in Figma, including components, auto layout, variants, and libraries
Experience working within design systems or component libraries at scale
Comfort collaborating with product managers, UX partners, and engineers
Ability to produce production‑ready designs suitable for development handoff
Nice to Have
Experience with animation or motion design
Strong interaction design instincts and attention to micro‑interactions
Experience designing for consumer‑facing or high‑visibility products
Comfort contributing visual perspective in UX‑leaning environments
Portfolio Expectations
Portfolio should showcase strong visual design and UI craft
Mobile app work is preferred, but we’re open to designers with exceptional visual polish across platforms
Emphasis on high‑fidelity execution rather than research‑heavy case studies
Demonstrated ability to elevate rough or low‑fidelity concepts into refined interfaces
Real‑world or shipped product work preferred over speculative projects
Bonus for showcasing motion, interaction details, or visual refinement
Work Environment This is a hybrid role based in New York City, with in‑office collaboration expected several days per week.
Employment Type Contract position based in New York, NY.
Pay Pay range: $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
Benefits
Medical, dental & vision
Critical Illness, Accident, and Hospital
401(k) Retirement Plan – Pre‑tax and Roth post‑tax contributions available
Life Insurance (Voluntary Life & AD&D for the employee and dependents)
Short and long‑term disability
Health Spending Account (HSA)
Transportation benefits
Employee Assistance Program
Time Off/Leave (PTO, Vacation or Sick Leave)
