MarketSpecific Execution Requirements – Water/Wastewater When assigned to water or wastewater projects, the Site Superintendent manages the jobsite with added focus on process integrity, environmental controls, and commissioning readiness. These requirements supplement—but do not change—the Site Superintendent’s site authority.
ProcessDriven Planning:
Build lookahead plans that respect process logic (wet/dry sequencing, equipment alignment, chemical systems), ensuring no activity compromises existing treatment performance or compliance.
Environmental & Permit Controls:
Implement and maintain erosion/sediment controls, turbidity and discharge protections, dust/noise limits, and containment measures per permit and contract requirements. Document field compliance.
HighRisk Activities:
Plan and lead shutdowns/tieins with formal pretask planning: isolation verification, LOTOTO, bypass/temporary systems, spill response materials, and owner notification windows.
QA/QC & Testing Readiness (Field):
Coordinate flushing, cleaning, pressure/leak testing support, equipment alignment access, labeling, torque markings, and safe access for inspection and prefunctional checks.
Commissioning Support:
Sequence field activities to meet prefunctional, functional, and integrated testing schedules. Ensure trades and vendors have access, power, and safe conditions to execute testing; do not assume commercial testing scope or acceptance authority.
Instrumentation/Controls Access:
Coordinate installation access, device locations, pullstrings/conduit pathways, and enclosure clearances so I&C vendors can complete terminations and loop checks without rework.
Owner/Inspector Coordination (Field):
Schedule field walkdowns, retain records of field verifications, and route any scope/contract questions to the PM.
Career Progression Successful performance in this role may lead to advancement to Senior Superintendent or General Superintendent, with increased responsibility for managing larger projects or multiple field teams.
