Senior Commercial Real Estate Accountant
We are seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Real Estate Accountant to join a well‑established and growing commercial real estate investment and management firm. This role offers high visibility, regular interaction with property management teams, and the opportunity to take ownership of multiple complex properties.
Job Responsibilities
Prepare and review monthly and quarterly financial reports for assigned properties
Ensure accurate posting of accrual and cash journal entries, tenant billings, and rent rolls
Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure all supporting schedules align with financial reports
Review and approve large AP disbursement items; coordinate weekly check‑run processing
Perform monthly bank reconciliations for all assigned accounts
Analyze variances in financial statements and communicate findings with property management
Collaborate with property managers on the preparation of annual budgets and operating expense reconciliations
Monitor property cash balances and support cash flow forecasting
Prepare rent‑up schedules and process approved rent adjustments
Calculate and initiate monthly owner distributions in accordance with property agreements
Prepare and process sales tax filings as required
Assist with year‑end CAM and real estate tax reconciliations
Maintain documentation in accordance with internal controls and systems (e.g., OneSpace)
Provide audit support and respond to external or internal auditor requests
Communicate with internal stakeholders, property owners, and external vendors professionally and efficiently
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
4+ years of recent experience in property management accounting, preferably in a fee‑managed environment
Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles
Experience with MRI accounting software strongly preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Adobe
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
Effective communication skills and a professional, service‑oriented demeanor
High level of discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
Self‑starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments
Location and Compensation Dallas, TX
$75,000 – $85,000 annually
