We’re seeking a Senior Yacht Underwriter to join our Yacht Programs Team at Arrowhead Intermediaries. This position is responsible for all production for the assigned territory across multiple product lines and will be given a specific grant of authority provided by the Program Manager.
This position is responsible for the critical review of individual submissions; declining unacceptable risks and drafting new and renewal insurance proposals; exercising detailed knowledge of insurance coverage(s) in compliance with underwriting guidelines and lines of authority for multiple yacht products. Additionally, a senior level candidate would involve analyzing complex data, mentoring junior team members, and fostering relationships with agency partners in order to contribute to the overall profitability and strategic goals of the organization.
Your Impact:
Initiating, building and maintaining working broker relationships to drive new business and promote business retention
Underwrite new yacht business by reviewing, evaluating and rating the risk, adhering to all underwriting guidelines and standards; ensuring submissions are processed within defined time frames
Underwrite renewal business referred by the renewal underwriter adhering to rate guidelines, lines of authority, legal mandates and the insurer’s underwriting guidelines
Ability to utilize critical thinking and attention to detail to analyze policy files to determine pricing/rate strategy (based on an analysis of the account’s loss ratios, appropriateness for retention, current pricing and deductibles compared to current rate structures, profitability, underwriting constraints, analyzing loss control surveys and insured’s commitment to compliance) as well as the account’s fit with underwriting guidelines and the agency’s lines of authority
Documentation of underwriting documents and decisions encompassing the above, as well as detailed account information by policy, as well as type of risk, and determining pricing strategy to enhance the account’s potential for profitability
Respond to any broker questions or concerns that arise during the renewal or new business process within defined timeframes
Work closely with Program Manager in a supportive capacity, providing program and market feedback, and assisting with data analysis and process improvement within program or territory to promote product development or enhancement
Successful Candidates Will Have:
Bachelor’s degree preferred, will consider industry experience in lieu of education
5+ years of yacht underwriting experience for Senior level candidate
Experience with underwriting in CAT locations strongly preferred
P&C insurance license preferred
Must be proficient with MS Office Suite, with focus on Outlook, Teams and Excel
Must have strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
Limited work travel may be required
