Interior Designer Associate – Greenville, SC Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is one of the largest privately held architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast, with offices located throughout Alabama, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee. This position provides interior design services supporting commercial architectural projects in the categories of Educational, Hospitality, Healthcare and Municipal facilities.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Attends client planning meetings and presents plans and information to customers for review and approval.

Schedules and assigns tasks to internal teams, processes scopes of work or contracts in coordination with sales, and reports on project statuses and budgets.

Conducts field measurements and inventories existing products, producing as-built drawings/specifications.

Develops and presents block and space plans and obtains customer approvals.

Creates plotting, printing, color boards and other visual aids.

Prepares construction documents and specifications for finishes and furniture.

Reviews design and content changes to ensure compliance with GMC standards.

Manages document control, contract scope review, and maintains records of the project for current and future use.

Oversees installation of design elements and furniture.

Assists with punch list review in collaboration with project managers.

Assists in writing and presenting design proposals and contracts.

Maintains detailed and extensive project documentation, including records of all key decisions, phone conversations, approvals, signoffs, and meeting notes.

Manages adherence to project schedule, budget, design task completions, and quality of design work.

Communicates effectively with internal and external clients.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum 3+ years of interior design experience.

Bachelor’s Degree (BA) from a four‑year college or university in Interior Design.

Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, and at least one rendering software.

Expertise in layout, color, lighting, material selection and installations.

Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite or other design programs.

Knowledge of industry best practices, ADA codes, building materials, and construction details.

Strong communication and writing skills.

Sharp eye for quality assurance and an attention to detail.

Ability to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to adapt with changing business needs.

Travel Requirements

Local job site travel as needed per project.
